Sending a message
Steps:
- Click on a chat that you would like to send a message to.
Reminder: Broadcast channels are one-way only, and residents will not be able to reply to messages in a broadcast. - Clicking the message composer and type your message. When you're finished, press the send icon.
- You can also send photos, videos, audio recordings, or documents separately. Click the attachment icon beside the send button.
Editing a message
Steps:
- Hover on a message, and a 'Reply', 'Edit' and 'Delete' icon will appear.
Users on the portal and the app are restricted to a 15 Minute window to edit or delete messages.Restricting edits and deletions after 15 minutes maintains conversation integrity and accountability, preventing misuse or confusion. It encourages thoughtful communication and keeps discussions consistent.
- Click on 'Edit' (pencil icon)
- The message you're editing will reopen in the composer with its original content for editing.
- When you're finished, press the send icon.
- The message will be sent with the newly edited content.
Deleting a message
Steps:
- Hover on a message, and a 'Reply', 'Edit' and 'Delete' icon will appear.
Reminder, users on the portal and the app are restricted to a 15 Minute window to edit or delete messages. - Click on 'Delete' (trashcan icon)
- Upon deleting, the message will be replaced with a deletion placeholder.
Replying to a particular message
Steps:
- Hover on a message, and a 'Reply', 'Edit' and 'Delete' icon will appear.
- Click on 'Reply' (arrow icon)|
- The message you're replying to will appear above the message composer. Type your response in the message compose. When you're finished, press the send icon.
Note: Messaging is instantaneous. You will not need to wait in the messaging app to receive a response. When a message is received, these will be displayed as phone notifications. Ensure you have phone notifications for this mobile app turned on to receive essential building messages.
