A 1-way broadcast channel is used by building management to send important updates or announcements directly to residents. Unlike a regular chat, residents can receive messages but cannot reply.
How to create a Broadcast channel
- Navigate to the messages page in the connecX portal. Messages can be found near the bottom of the left navigator bar.
- Click the teal plus button next to the search bar on the messages page.
- A pop-up will appear with four different messaging options. Click on Broadcast Channel
- A side modal will appear for you to fill in the Broadcast channel fields.
Name: Enter an appropriate name for this group chat; this field is mandatory. - Click add users groups
User Groups: Building Managers can create broadcast channels by adding user groups. User groups are system-managed memberships based on criteria like site, building, level, or unit.
Members are updated automatically. For example, you make a user group for all users for a particular building, e.g. 'Tower 1 Group.'
If a resident moves from 'Tower 1' to another building, the system will remove them from the user group, and they will no longer see this broadcast channel.
Members: Once you've added users groups, they will appear in the members section. You have the option to remove all or remove them one by one. To complete the Broadcast channel creation, you must add at least user group. - To complete the broadcast channel creation, press create.
