Overview:
This article covers the different Facility Booking types in connecX (Flexible, Fixed Slots, and All Day) as well as how building managers can switch between them and manage existing bookings.

Types of Facility Bookings:

Flexible: Residents may book any time of their choosing, as long as it falls within the facility’s available hours.

Fixed Slots: Bookings are restricted to predefined time slots set by the building manager. These slots must be booked in full (e.g., if a slot is 1:00 PM–3:00 PM, the entire slot must be booked).

All Day: Residents may book the facility for the entire day.

Switching Between Booking Types:

Building managers can switch from between different bookings only if there are no future bookings for the facility.

  • If future bookings exist, the system will prevent the switch and options will be disabled.
  • If there are no future bookings, the options will be enabled and you may switch freely.

What to do if you want to switch but there are future bookings:

  1. Close the facility so that no new bookings can be made.
  2. Cancel or reject all future bookings for that facility, or request that residents cancel them.
  3. Notify residents that the facility will be moving to a different booking type e.g. Fixed Slots schedule.
  4. Once all future bookings are cleared, reopen the facility and residents can re-book using the new booking type.

From Fixed Slots to Flexible

Switching from Fixed Slots to Flexible does not cause any issues. Existing bookings will remain intact. For example, if a resident booked a 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Fixed Slot, that booking time will continue to apply under the Flexible setting.

Tip: We recommend always notifying residents in advance when switching booking types for a facility, so they understand how future bookings will be managed.
