Overview:
This article explains how to enable payments for facility bookings using connecX’s integration with Stripe. Before you can accept payments, you must have an Stripe account already set up.

Before You Start:

  • Payments can only be enabled for facilities that have bookings enabled.

  • For facilities that require manager approval, payment is only captured after the booking is approved.

  • Stripe is the payment gateway used. connecX does not store any card details, all payment information is handled securely via Stripe.




How to Enable Payments for a Facility 

Step 1: Go to the Facility Settings

Navigate to Settings > Facilities, then select the facility you want to set up payments for.

Step 2: Enable Bookings and Payments

Scroll to the bottom of the facility page and toggle on "Enable Payments". If bookings have not been enabled, enable them first.



Step 3: Enter in your Stripe Keys

To complete this process, head to your stripe account and navigate to API keys.

You will need to locate and copy both the Stripe Publishable Key and the Stripe Secret Key into the field below:

Note that these steps are mandatory and is only required to be compelted once. Once this step is completed, these keys will be automatically applied to all other facilities that require payment. Step 4: Set Pricing

Choose whether to charge per hour or per booking. It is also optional for you to add an extra line item.
Enter your price and click Save to apply the changes.





What Residents See in the App:

  • The facility price will appear on the facility information page.

  • During checkout, residents will be prompted to enter their payment details through Stripe’s secure payment interface.

  • Once payment is processed, the booking will show a “Paid” status.




Stripe Fees:

Domestic Cards1.7% per transaction + $0.40
International Cards3.5% + $0.40
Refund (in/out of Stripe)1.7% + $0.40 each way (total: 3.4% + $0.80)


Cancellations & Who Pays for the Stripe fees:

  • If a building manager cancels the booking:
    → The site absorbs the Stripe fee.

  • If a resident cancels the booking:
    → The resident absorbs the Stripe fee.

  • The total cost of cancelling includes fees for the initial transaction and the refund transaction (in and out of Stripe).


Important information:
Payment Status

If a resident makes a booking and a payment for a facility that requires approval by the manager then their booking will have a pending status and their money will be in a state of limbo, also known as uncaptured
- if the booking is approve then the money proceeds to the Stripe account
- if the booking is rejected then the money is fully refunded back to the residents account.
- if the booking is approved and but is then cancelled by the resident, then the money is fully refunded back to the residents account with no fee.
