Overview:
This article explains how the connecX facility booking system integrates with Salto ProAccess Space, allowing residents to automatically access booked facilities using their key cards. Once integrated, access permissions are created and managed automatically when a resident or building manager makes a facility booking.
How the integration works:
Understand key Salto terminology
- Apartments in connecX are mapped to Visitor Access Levels in Salto.
- Facilities in connecX are mapped to Zones in Salto.
- Each facility should be assigned its own Zone ID in Salto, even if the facility has only one door.
- Doors must be grouped into these Zones to ensure correct access control.
Booking a Facility
When a resident or building manager books a facility (via the App or Portal), connecX will automatically:
Create a Period (access date) and
Apply a Timetable (booking time)
…to the corresponding Zone in Salto ProAccess Space, granting access for the apartment.
Example: If apartment 501/56 books the Gym, Salto will automatically grant key card access to that facility for the duration of the booking.
Nightly permission clearing
Each night, ConnecX runs an automated job to clear expired access permissions in Salto. This ensures old access records are removed just after midnight daily. It allows residents to rebook the same facility without any conflict or manual removal by the building manager.
Understand Salto’s booking limitation
Salto can only handle one active access relationship between an apartment and a facility (Zone) at a time.
This means:
- If a resident books the same facility multiple times (e.g. for today and next week), only one access permission can exist in Salto at once.
To manage this:
- ConnecX clears expired access nightly.
- ConnecX sends an email to the building manager when a user creates a second booking that overlaps with an existing one for the same facility.
What to do when a manager receives a "double booking" email
If you receive an email about overlapping bookings:
Take manual action in Salto on the day of the second booking to enable access for the resident.
