Step 1: Create an App get your Access Token


First to the Developer App Portal:
https://developer.surveymonkey.com/


Click “Create App”

  • Select Private App (Public app not yet required unless future scaling planned)

  • Name your app



  1. After the app is created, click on it and go to the Settings tab.

  2. Under Scopes, tick the following permissions:

  3. Click “Update Scope”.

  4. You will now see a section labeled Access Token – Copy this token.

Step 2: Paste Token into Novus ConnecX Survey Page

  1. Open Survey Page and navigate to:
    Home → Settings → Surveys

  2. Paste the access token into the designated token field.

  3. After saving, connecX will:

    • Retrieve all surveys from your SurveyMonkey account

    • Display them in a dropdown list

    • Allow you to activate one survey at a time

      Note: Only one survey can be active in the app interface at a time. You can toggle between surveys by activating/deactivating them from the list.


Additional Notes

Supported Question Types:

    1. multiple choice
    2. checkbox
    3. single textbox
    4. dropdown

    Unsupported types (like open-text fields or ratings) will not display in the connecX interface.


Free Account Limitations:

  • 25 responses per survey

  • 90-day access token lifespan

  • 500 API calls/day

To lift these:

  • Upgrade to a paid SurveyMonkey plan (e.g., Standard or Team)

  • In future, a Public App integration (pending approval) will remove the 90-day token and API limits.


Best Practices

  • Keep survey titles clean and recognixable.

  • Avoid advanced styling or formatting—Novus displays surveys in simple format.

  • If advanced question types or formats are needed, use a direct survey link (outside the app).
